If wealth is virtue, then the accumulation of wealth is a positive good. It follows from this that any diminution of wealth is a great evil. This is the ancient foundational belief of the Fat Purse party and if results are any judge, then it is fine and stable foundation. Many a ruling Mayor of Thul'Ka has come from the Fat Purse and though they are out of power now they still command many seats in the Assembly and there is every possibility that they may reclaim their former prominence in the next election.

Political Views

Regarded by most as the more conservative of the merchant parties, the Fat Purse is largely concerned with fiscal restraint and promoting individual enterprise. This wins them a good deal of support from the smaller merchants and businesspersons, many of whom are sceptical of the utility of city infrastructure and point to some truly shocking scandals involving improper patronage, graft, and general corruption as examples.

Taxes are likewise regarded with suspicion and the Fat Purse instead promotes a fee-for-service model for funding and maintaining the necessary services of the city. This model, though useful in some situations, has drawn criticism from the Fat Purse’s rivals as an invitation of bribery and as a back-door method to cut or underfund services which largely serve interests outside of the Fat Purse.

Current Politics

With reference to the present currency crisis, the Fat Purse, like many other parties, advocates the creation of a national Mugrobi currency though they favor one backed by physical metal assets. Mugroba is rich in mineral and metal resources and so would be a far richer country it is used its own physical assets as backing. This position put them in their accustomed place as eternal rivals to the Crocus and polemic between the sides is strong as ever in this contentious political season.
