Gender

Gioran society is strongly favourable to the female sex. Whilst men aren't treated poorly, it is much preferred to have a girl child or hire women into positions of power as part of the Assembly.

Homosexuality is not frowned upon in Gior, and often seen as a blessing by Imaan if a man shows feminine tendencies, though marriage between same sex couples is not preferred as it prevents the birth of the future generations. Often homosexual couples end up in a three-way arranged marriage to ensure a child is produced from the coupling. Having two mothers is considered lucky.

Sexuality

Giorans do not value virginity before wedlock. They believe in acting on impulses, with an almost clinical sort of view. If one feels attracted to another, they should speak up and act upon it. Hiding behind lies and awkwardness can only cause strain and excessive emotional distress, which is seen as poor form. Emotions are not expected to rule you, therefore you act to stop the emotion occurring. There is a view that sex with another outside of your marriage is acceptable, provided you are both consenting of the act. To be jealous or upset over this act of adultery is a sign of weakness. Logic dictates that marriage is for the good of society, not for the good of one's heart.
