Methods of Travel

Most travel is done by foot, bicycle, mount, or carriage. The average human or wick has access to one or two of these things, while occasionally they can afford a steam-motored cab or a steam ferry ride up a river to their distant destination. Galdori prefer carriages, rickshaws, steam-motor cabs, boats, or airships for travel. The main roads, especially between Vienda, Brunnhold, Numbrey and Old Rose Harbor are paved, well-maintained, and patrolled by Seventen. Smaller cities and villages have cobblestone or dirt roads, gravel on occasion, and rarer but still present patrols. As one travels north and west in Anaxas, the roads become less frequent, less maintained, and the military presence becomes limited to the few outposts scattered near the borders.

Anhau and the hatcher territories to the west are abandoned, foggy, and no one willingly travels there without some obscure reason. No one even realizes that Anhau exists, tucked protectively in the valley away from view. The Northern Tors and Fen Kierden are for the most part uninhabited, save for a few human and wick settlements. The border between Mugroba and Anaxas has a Seventen Outpost south of the Fen, but that outpost has been closed since the outbreak of the Plague across the Anaxas border.

The Arova and Talarma Rivers are main bodies of trade, transportation and movement across the country from east to west. Airships are necessary to cross over the Shier Mountains and trade with Hesse and all sea-faring commerce between Mugroba and other Kingdoms begins and ends in Old Rose Harbor.

Traveling Anaxas

From Old Rose Harbor to the other side of the Shier Mountains, on foot, in a straight line across the Kingdom, it would take a person of any race roughly 48 days, the treacherous mountains probably adding another half a week (5 days) or about 20-22 days by airship, depending on the weather conditions.

From Brunnhold

• From Brunnhold to Muffey is a little over one day of traveling by foot, half a day traveling by mount or carriage.
• From Brunnhold to Vienda is about 5 days by foot, 3.5 days by carriage or mount, and 1 day by boat once one spends 1.5 days traveling from Muffey to the river.
• From Brunnhold to Dorhaven is 4 days by foot, 2 days by carriage or mount.
• From Brunnhold to Old Rose Harbor is 12 days by foot, 6.5 days by carriage. It is faster to travel to Vienda and take the Arova River steam ferry, however.
• From Brunnhold to Knowles is 20 days by foot, 12 days by carriage/mount, or a quick 6 days up the river once one spends 2 days traveling to the Talarma River from Dorhaven.

From Vienda

• From Vienda to Old Rose Harbor is 8 days by foot, 4 days by carriage or mount, 2.5 days by steam ferry and around 2 days by airship.
• From Vienda to Surwood is about 3 days by foot or 1.5 days by mount or carriage. It's a day by ferry and a handful of hours by airship.
• From Vienda to Numbrey is 12 days by foot or 6 days by mount or carriage, or 3 days by ferry to Harbrooke and a day by carriage or mount onto Numbrey. By airship, it's 2.5 days.
• From Vienda to Virthmore is also 11-12 days by foot or 5-7 days by mount or carriage. By airship, it's 2 days over verdant farmland and adorable farmsteads.

From Old Rose Harbor

• From Old Rose Harbor to Cellas Isle is 2 days by boat, 1.5 by steam ferry and a day by airship.
• From Old Rose to Dutam on Fentail Isle is 3.5 days by boat or 3 days by steam ferry. It only takes 2 days by airship to reach Fentail.
• From Old Rose Harbor to the Maluku Isles of Mugroba is 8 days by boat or 4 days by airship.
• From Old Rose Harbor to Thul Ka is roughly 10 days by ship and another 10-14 days by carriage or mount. It's about 12 days just by airship over the desert.
