The Archevne is a sect of galdori priests who have the mandate of preserving the spiritual order of Bastia. They have gone through periods of more or less power in Bastia, usually related to how religious the current King or Queen is. They are called the Archevne as a whole, and an individual member is called an Archev. There are many Archev, who perform a number of religious and official duties, including playing a prominent role in engagement, marriage and divorce ceremonies. Archev are allowed to marry one another, and even have children together not-infrequently.

Up the ladder, the lowest level officials are called Archev Dismas, who are organized under the more powerful Megas Archev Theoros. The leader of the Archevne is called the Ultas Archev Strategos, and is chosen from the Megas Archev Theoros upon the death of the prior Ultas Archev Strategos. All of these officials are celibate, and an Archev who wishes to advance in the order would do well to never marry, but can divorce their spouse (and renounce any children) if necessary.

The headquarters of the Archevne is in Florne, in the Sancttedem di Hurte.

The Archevne are great producers of poetry and song, in extremely rigid, overwrought and formal styles which have not changed in thousands of years. These works are produced by their secluded members, who are said to spend their days meditating in the temples’ innermost gardens, and occasionally take pilgrimages to the order’s mountain retreats.
