Please take a moment to read over these guidelines for OOC (Out Of Character) conduct and etiquette. Breaking any of these rules will either result in a strike (you get three) or an instant ban depending on the severity. A general rule of thumb is to be polite and courteous when speaking OOC on the forums or on instant message (in the game's context).

Some Basic Rules

  • We aim to be progressive and accepting on Thorns. Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ageist, classist, ableist and religiously/culturally intolerant statements are not acceptable.+
  • Harassing or unwanted sexual remarks to another player are not acceptable. We are adamant that everyone feel safe here.
  • Expletives are allowed, but use your best judgment as to their appropriateness. Please keep in mind that we have younger players!
  • Don't post any hardcore pornography or copyrighted drawings (that aren't yours) in the art section. NSFW (not safe for work) images are acceptable as long as they're clearly marked.
  • Do not troll existing threads, or attempt to ruin other people's fun.
  • Don't try to start a flame war with inflammatory topics. Please keep all discussions civil. This is not to say "don't engage in debate."
  • If you have beef with another player, TAKE IT OFF THE FORUMS. Do not start any forum witch-burnings.
  • Don't post any sensitive information about other players in threads. This includes real names, addresses, phone numbers, AIM names if the players has not chosen to share it, email addresses and other things that cannot be found in the player's public profile. This is especially important if a player is under 18. You may post information about yourself, but we recommend that you never post anything that would put you in danger, like your address or work/school schedule.
  • Don't make multiple blanket accounts. Don't create character accounts just to reserve a name and leave it sitting around for ages.

+ Note the difference between OOC and IC here. Obviously, your characters may hold any opinions you wish them to have, even if they're considered bigoted or offensive.
