Brand Names

Black Comfort - an incredibly dark wine made from grapes and other berries and fortified with brandy. Sweet, thick, slightly greasy. It has a black fish of some kind on the bottle. Popular with spokes, as it travels well and very rarely turns to vinegar, even if it's left in the sun for a while.

Hanged Man - Red fortified wine, known for its potency and relative cheapness. Not carried much anymore, as other such wines have become more popular. Fortified with grain spirits. Has a young man hanging from a tree by his ankle, comes in a smoked glass jug.

Red Moon - Red wine mixed with hard cider. Sour and fruity, something often used to get a cheap date drunk as the alcohol's a bit harder to taste. Not the strongest of them, but it gets the job done. Has a satyr dancing under a blood red moon on the bottle.

Long Haul - Wood spirits and caffeinated red wine. Beloved by sailors because it'll keep, it'll get them drunk, and it'll keep them up. Red ship with black sails on the bottle.

First Light - White wine mixed with sugar cane spirits, has a slight amberish color. Often used in making sweets. The cane spirits are mixed with the wine halfway through the fermentation, making it one of the sweetest wines on the market, and not as heavy on the alcohol as other fortified wines. Often called "First Love" as it's normally what a young love will bring on picnics and if they aren't careful, it will be what gets them into the heavier stuff. Has a black cottage overlooking hill land with the sun coming up on the bottle.

Clever Fellow - A robust red ale, another student favorite. Very nutty, which can also be a little joke about the fellows who drink it. Has a man in professor's garb holding a mug on the bottle.

Twemlaugh - A brandy with a rich, roasted flavor, reminiscent of caramelized pears with a firm, acidic bite and smooth finish. Amber in color. A favorite of bureaucrats.

Percival Armstrong's Tonic To Soothe What Ails You - A cure-all made from tonic water, a little brandy, and enough laudanum that the effects can be felt. A favorite night cap for proper ladies and tired lower race wives alike. The fat green bottle has the esteemed Dr. Armstrong's egg shaped head on it, resplendent in a carefully waxed handlebar mustache/goatee combo.

Flashfight - Human-made beer with two horses reared up and kicking each other on the bottle. The beer is brewed with sasafras roots, giving it an odd herbal taste. A favorite of old timers, said to have originally been a drink of human warriors.

Neverbetter - Popular pale ale, a big draw for the galdori student crowd. Smooth and just slightly bitter. A bit on the pricy side. Picture is of a beautiful Gioran barmaid with two mugs in each hand.

Old Doggie - Red wine with sugar beet spirits; has a picture of an armed Anaxi Infantry Regular on the front. Popular legend was that Old Doggie used to be army lingo for any wine that a company could get, then fortified with spirits made from beets or any other easy to find source so that it wouldn't spoil on the march. Mostly drank by enlisted military men, not as popular in the civilian market.

Gold Hart - Upper Class mead infused with oil from orange peel and cinnamon. Huntsman will often carry a bottle or two in their saddle bags, guaranteed to brighten even the worst day out on the hunt. Magnificent golden stag is on the bottle.

Jeodre - Gioran distilled spirit flavored with fennel and pepper. Rarely used as a shot, it's often used in mixing savory cocktails. Comes in tall, long necked bottles.

Three Hearts - A sweet liqueur flavored with peach syrup. Another mixing drink, very very girly. Has three pink peaches on the front.

First Blush - Cinnamon infused cherry brandy, a favorite during the winter time where it's guaranteed to drive out the deepest cold. Said to be most enjoyable with someone just as sweet to take it with. Has a young lady in a white dress on the front.

Busy Bee - Cheap plentiful meade consumed mainly by the workforce, any good factory bar has a brace of bottles ready for when the whistle blows at the end of the day. Most bars actually make there own version of it, and the art on the bottles differ but it's normally a bee, often carrying a wrench or an engineer's square.

Gedwin's Patent Mood Elevator - Sparkling water with naturally occurring lithium, cherry brandy, and honey. Sweet enough to go down easy and just enough kick to make a bad day bearable. A favorite of the Galdori Gentry. Fancy curly writing makes amazing claims to its efficacy.

Rodriguez Fireball Whisky - A fiery whisky named after Lord Rodriguez Theraldon, who's plantation in Bastia makes the richest, spiciest hops for this high quality whisky.

Gioran Cognac - A smooth, mellow amber delight made right in Gior itself. The business venture between Lord Mathew and Lord Bruthgrave has always had an air of mystery how they've created such a masterpiece in the caved cavernous city, but whatever the plan the have made a delicious spirit.

Imaan’s Grace - A clear spirit, purified in Imaans Carverns in Gior, with a hint of lichen and a curious faint light blue glow. This is from the trace amounts of luminescent spores in the spirit itself,

Mixed Drinks

Low Tide - The watered down wine, spirits, and junk that's mixed in empty casks in Old Rose and meted out on the docks for deckhands off duty. Foul stuff in general, but cheap as free. No label at all.

Keel Haul - Part tonic, part rum, has lemon juice, clam juice, and green algae. Keeps the sailor strong and supple, provided they don't throw up drinking it. Sometimes served with a weevil if the barkeep has a sense of humor. Served straight from the cask.

Gioran Whiskey - Whiskey with a twist of apah root.

Dirty Chan - Hot chan with rum.

Green Madhouse - Chan with shaved Apah root and absinthe.

Blushing Hingle - Vodka with cranberry juice.

Starfly - Vodka, lime juice, and cranberry juice, served with a cherry. A girly drink.

Queen's Corpse - No one's exactly sure how to make this drink. It consists of Chrove's Erse, vodka, moonshine, and some degree of ingenuity. Only the strongest of the strong can drink it. Named for the Mad Queen, where it was developed for a drinking game and the myth behind it. Legend has it that the two participants both died after a shot of the stuff, though in some areas it is argued that one died while the other was a golly that couldn't cast a spell for the rest of his life.

Gingcot - Plain beer mixed with Chrove's Erse, sold in flasks and water pouches instead of bottles. Named because it seperates a Wick from his money!

Rare/Grand/Sweet Whice - Rum, mixed with a dash of lime and orange, then one of either cherry, apple, or passion fruit juice.

Dentis Cobbler - A milk based drink that has both chocolate and hazelnut (or substitute) liqueurs, cinnamon, brown sugar and a dollop of whipped coffee-and-cream on top, usually served with a straw and garnish of an orange leaf. A sweet drink, popular among cads, because it tastes like candy and goes down smooth, keeping the girl in the dark as to their real intent.

Deal Breaker - A shot of the strongest rum and a shot of the strongest bourbon, mixed with whatever else you've got. 'Cuz any deals what get made once you've downed that drink don't count due to instant slobbering drunkenness.
