Binze (BIN-zuh) is an annual celebration held at Banke Bazaar on Loshis 5th. The event is held in anticipation of the growing rainy season (often already underway in the valley by the time Binze takes place).
The event is an exhibition of oral and handmade tradition; storytelling exhibitions and contests are held throughout the day, as well as pottery, textile, carving and carpentry shows. The items shown are not only artistic in nature, but useful in function, in true Anhai tradition. The items serve household or religious purposes.
Traditionally, small trades of a generous nature are made throughout the festival, as trinkets and small craft items are traded for a song, a joke, one's earliest memory, kisses, etc.
