Weather in the Kingdoms

Please note that while weather is currently only calculated for the Kingdoms of Anaxas and Bastia, each of the other Six Kingdoms has their temperature and weather variances listed below.

Kingdoms of Anaxas and Bastia

Yaris comes to the Sister Kingdoms on a hot, dry breeze, breaking the humid daze of late Roalis with temperatures in the eighties and nineties. The lush greenery of spring and summer begins to brown and wither in the heat. For the majority of Yaris, no rain falls, and drought is not uncommon. Skilled living conversationalists from Brunnhold and elsewhere, particularly those specialized in plant matter, are needed in the countryside to aid with crop growth and maintenance. For many agricultural students, Yaris provides opportunities for exciting field work. In Brayde County, the tobacco is ready for harvest: fields of stalks with curling yellow leaves sprawl, though perhaps a little less tall than they’ve grown in years past.

In late Yaris, the winds pick up. Though the reprieve from dry season's dizzying heat is welcome, the winds can grow quite strong at this time - property damage is not unheard of. In the last week and a half, temperatures begin to drop, and the leaves of some trees are just starting to turn. The final week is scattered with light, misting rainshowers, the first rainfall since Roalis.

The Gala of Physics takes place at Brunnhold during the first twelve days of Yaris. Auspiciously, both moons are full on the 35-36 and 67-68 of the month, on relatively clear nights.

Kingdom of Hesse

Like Roalis, Yaris is milder in Hesse; on average, temperatures – especially in the hotter weeks – tend to run between five and ten degrees cooler. While drought can be deeply problematic in agricultural regions, mining is as prosperous as ever. The strong winds make the grasslands particularly beautiful this time of year.

Kingdom of Hox

In Hox, the summer has already ended. While not yet as cold as winter, the “first” frosts have fallen (although nightfall often brings frost even through Roalis), and Hox grows colder and colder over the course of Yaris. Even in early Yaris, snowfall is not unheard-of in the mountains.

Kingdom of Gior

Gior is much cooler than the sister kingdoms during Yaris. There is less rain than usual, but drought is seldom a problem, even for the country’s human population – Gioran galdori might attribute this to the many performances of Ba Bieth which go on during the season, as well as the plentiful Waters of Imaan. In the mountains and caverns, the howling winds often sound hauntingly like a chorus of voices; for this reason, the season is considered especially spiritual.

Kingdom of Mugroba

Temperatures in Mugroba during the month of Yaris are at their hottest for the year, sweltering and dangerous for those who aren't used to the dry desert heat. Sandstorms become more common, often burying caravans and making travel by airship during this time of year very difficult. Despite this, in the fertile stretches of land next to the Turga River and the other streams of life across Mugroba, the first harvests are taken up during this month and this year in particular is so auspicious after a bountiful rainy season that a second planting allows another harvest in the coming Vortas.
