And so unto The Deep, did Aminark banish Kaelm and his followers, to hide the forbidden prose lest they too suffer the fate of The Lost Ones.~ Javekan Inaute, The Final Days of Ethseeda Giore.
Largely unexplored by modern galdori, due to difficulties getting down there, The Deep is a series of catacombs dug miles under the mountain. These catacombs were dug during the early days of Giore rule, supposedly to preserve the texts and spells of their people. Some histories say that rituals were performed in the deep dark of The Deep, involving intricate casting and even it's rumoured the presence of mythical beasts. According to word of mouth, there were burials in The Deep, of great historical figures that supported Animark and her family. There is no factual evidence that can support this however, as over time the catacombs became too cold and lacked enough oxygen for the galdori to enter.
There are magisters and scientists who work regularly on finding ways to get deeper and deeper into the tomb like depths, but so far they have only managed to make it to the first level. This has wielded bizarre carvings of what appear to be the Circle Pantheon, large beasts and what could be early depictions of hatchers. Various paintings and decrepit texts were discovered in clay sealed casks, though these texts only talk about the final days of Aminark Giore's rule.
It’s said there’s valuable historical texts and treasures in the depths, if only there was a way to them.
