The Archives

A stunning achievement of galdori architecture, The Archives are home to some of the most well known academic literature of Gior, though anyone browsing the leather bound books will find not a single fiction article. The librarian, Damke Luthine, had tended fondly to this place of mindful expansion for nearly thirty years, using his Static specialization to keep the damp out of the books and scrolls. The floor is polished, and inlaid with streaks of natural quartz, and the shelves themselves are carved into the bleached white walls. A huge chandelier made of crystal hangs from the high ceiling, cleverly and magically imbued with light by the old librarian.
Seats and tables of white ash wood are available for lingering visitors, otherwise books are available to borrow for two weeks at a time. Don’t forget to return your books, as Damke has an uncanny ability to find all overdue books, no matter where they’ve ended up.
The walls of The Archives also house huge paintings of the ruling families of Gior: Da Giore, Da Huane and Da Fintain. At the back of the room, staring stately into the sky with a silver and diamond scepter is a massive mural of Aminark Giore carving the city itself, with Imaan’s image hovering in the sky above her. It’s a fascinating piece, and one that scholars often study as it’s said the more you look at it, the more things you find.
