Intrepid Lodge

From ThornsWiki

Rustic and manly, this hunting lodge has stood the test of time - it is the oldest building in the Stacks, having been built for the galdori hunters of old. Nowadays it is frequented by human and galdor alike in the spirit of the hunt.

Creatures large and small line the walls, some relatively mundane (the neck and head of a wild kenser, the roaring visage of a tiger) and some exotic (a stuffed piikii from Fen Kierden). Every available inch is covered, including the ceiling, from which hang dozens of dangerous animals - an alligator, twisted into eternal battle with a large taxidermied beaver, a shark and several other monstrous beasts. There is only a tiny spot of free wall space, near the center of the room - you get the impression that the owners are waiting for one last kill to fill in their wall of trophies.

On the floor, you might be momentarily startled by the roaring mouth of a black bear, but don't be alarmed: it's only a rug. The building is warm, and you hear the crackling of open flame before your eyes reach the gigantic fireplace in the back of the lodge. Inviting leather chairs and ottomans beckon to you from around the hearth. You smell the delicious smell of cooking meat.

The owners, known to most as Nate and Nathan, are sometimes sitting by the fire, swapping tales of domination over nature; more often, however, they are out in the wild, shooting and killing things for sport in the grand tradition.
