West Garden Description

A seamless transition from the neatly manicured lawns of the University, the west garden is an area of natural beauty at its most confined and sterilized. Visitors often comment on the uncanny perfection of the topiaries, the exquisite flower beds (complete with seasonal flowers, blooming out of season) and the way the unusually fresh air relaxes them and takes them far, far away from the cares of the real world.

The gardeners of Brunnhold, all of whom excel at natural magic, have done a good job keeping the garden free of any pests, stinging creatures, or small rodents; only the koi remain, in large, perfectly round ponds. Throughout the west garden there are many stone benches and artfully broken pillars that invite visitors to sit down and appreciate the world around them. Something doesn't feel quite right, though; the calculated beauty of the garden is heavy with magical interference, and only galdori feel comfortable there.

East Garden Description

A far cry from its glamorous twin, the east garden is overgrown with unkempt nature - vines crawling up twisted trees, huge stone statues cracked with age and covered in moss, and wild bushes and brambles everywhere. There is also the cryptic rose garden, a labyrinth of thorns, which seems to shift and change when anyone enters it.

The air here seems sharp with ancient magic and pregnant with suspense, as though the universe is holding its breath. Many times, a strange wind will blow through the garden, yet disturb none of the trees. At the centre of the maze is a small pond, which seems impossibly deep. Local folklore suggests it is haunted with lonely ghosts, and at night, when the surrounding garden is lit up with starflies skimming across the surface of the water, one might believe it.
