Church of the Moon

The Church of the Moon is the central hub of religious activity in Brunnhold. It is the base of operation for the Everine as well as the University's core place of worship.
Description
At the head of the campus, towering over every other structure (save the Observatory, of course) is the Church of the Moon, an enormous edifice of white marble that seems to rise into the heavens. A pure white carpet, edged in gold, leads up the semicircular steps and to the massive doors, which open slowly and majestically when anyone approaches.
Inside, the building's impressive size becomes clear as you gaze upward to the dome of clear glass. At midnight, the moon is clearly visible in the center. Circles dominate the design of this cathedral - in the severe and simple design of the building itself, in the repeating patterns on the stained glass windows and in the marble altar that dominates the back of the nave. Even the fan-vaulted ceiling is designed with the spheres in mind. The entire interior of the church seems to glow with pure white light, which probably comes from the cleverly concealed naphtha lamps in moon-shaped sconces on the walls.
Rows and rows of rosewood pews, decorated with gold inlay and intricate carvings, lead up to the altar. During a service the church is almost always full, but at any given time there are always a few solitary visitors with their heads lifted upwards in prayer. Several small doors, including two behind the altar for the priests and acolytes, lead to side chambers and halls, confessionals, and the church's offices.
Day and night, one can hear the low voices of the Everine raised together in chorus, echoing around the walls. This singing can sound at once joyous and dirgelike, and it adds an appropriate sense of majesty and otherworldliness to the church.
