Balder King is a human. He can be somewhat loud and eccentric at times to cover the hole in his heart that will never truly heal. Winslow jokes the volume of his voice is how Balder makes up for his height. Balder and his very small crew of performers travel to various places in Anaxas in hopes to pick up more performers and establish a more permanent residence. Although Balder might seem scattered at times, he is a gentleman and can be very serious when an issue arises involving his circus.

Born in the middle of nowhere Dutaim, a coastal island town on Fentail Isle in the spring of 2665. Balder didn't come from much, his family a poor collection of turnip farmers with little to no ambition for anything more. As a young man, the lad had the fortunate luck of taking the ferry with one of the wicks over to Surwood for the annual festival. Here, the wide eyed boy saw amazing and wonderful things. Bright garish colors, performances and dancing, laughter and song. He fell head over heels in love with the lifestyle of the festival, and vowed that he would bring some of the festival home with him one day.

In the summer of 2684, Balder met the light of his life, a flaxen haired witch called Briana that twirled her way into his heart on what he would come to learn was called a trapeze. The two married and enjoyed a life filled with joyful love for the next three years. Unfortunately, his wife could not conceive a child, much to both of their dismay. Instead of dwelling on the sadness at this disappointment, his beautiful witch proposed an idea she had floated around in her mind for years.

A circus.

Together, Balder and his wife worked to gather a rag tag group of people together, including a young Winslow Coors and started 'Balder and Briana's Circus' in 2691. They were small, no more than a cheap white canvas marquee and a rope circle, but oh they loved. Their small troupe was a family.

Unfortunately, tragedy for the Kings was to strike again in the fall of 2694, when Briana slipped from the trapeze and fell to her death. Why the net didn't catch her, neither Winslow nor Balder really know, but after her demise the short round moustached man hung up his ringmasters hat for many a year. It wasn't until the winter of 2712 that Winslow came visiting Duntaim, banging on the door of Balder's farmhouse with two teens and a runt of a chrove kitten. The widower, now older, stumpier and a little more round with a white beard and balding head opened the door to his old friend, and after many many drinks and a lifetime of reminiscing Winslow convinced Balder to take up the tophat and cane again. Together the two men pooled their funds to buy a large gold and blue tent, and thusly, Balder's Circus began.
